Manufacturing Engineer

Position Status: Exempt  
Position Summary:

This position is responsible for developing and optimizing manufacturing methods for safe production of high-quality products at the lowest possible cost by utilizing Continuous Improvement methods.  This position also acts as the main focal point for any manufacturing/assembly issues before and after production release.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions: 
·       Establish a clear plan for all projects-Current state, future state, and 1st step as well as a timeline

·       Develop cost reductions that increase quality.

·       Consistently implement quality improvements

·       Execute process improvements that support performance and cost targets.

·       Create all necessary paperwork to document the improvement and/or change in process.

 
Job Safety Analysis and PPE Assessment by the Safety Officer:
·       Standard PPE is required for this position including:

·       Safety glasses with side shields.

·       Closed-toed shoes at all times for all positions in the mfg area.

·       Kevlar gloves while handling sharp knives.

 
Experience, Skills, Knowledge, Abilities, or Education Required: 
·       Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing Engineering

·       3 years work experience in a machine shop and/or metals fabrication + Grinding environment

·       Excellent project management skills

·       Exposure to Lean/Continuous Improvement and a willingness to learn more

·       Strong communication skills-both written and verbal

·       Team oriented

·       Strong computer skills (MS Office, CAD, and Gibbs is a plus)

·       The desire to help make Microtech a top tier manufacturer

·       Detailed oriented

·       Hands-on

·       Self motivated

·       Able to handle multiple projects

·       Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office, CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and CAM (MasterCam preferred)

·       Knowledge of DOE (Design of Experiments) and SPC (Statistical Process Control)

 

Work Conditions and Physical/Schedule Requirements: 
This position may require some flexibility in work schedule.  At times it may be required to work with the swing shift or come in early for the start of the day shift.  This will depend on the project.  This position also requires some travel to the Microtech North facility.

Microtech Knives is searching for skilled and experienced Knife Sharpeners to join our finishing team. We manufacture limited run knives of exceptionally high quality and we need people who share our passion and dedication to craftsmanship.

The ideal candidate will have:

– Minimum of 2 years professional sharpening experience

– Enthusiastic and passionate about the knife industry

– Eager to be a part of a great team and someone that encourages growth, both individually and for the company as a whole
